  • Download the Indian Rupee Currency Symbol in Windows 10/8 Step 1: Go to Windows Settings and Click on Time & Language option. Step 2: Under the Regional & Language settings click on Add language option to add Indian English.

One of the first Indian Rupee fonts was released by Foradian. It is a quick method for including the Rupee symbol (INR sign) in your documents and PDF files for printing. It can be used when you need to include the Rupee (Rs) symbol in your printed letters, documents or invoices.

  1. Download the Rupee Foradian.
  2. Install to fonts of your PC/computer system. (For Windows, copy the font and paste it to the designated font folder. You can find it in the Computer settings page or Add/Remove Applications page.)
  3. Now open your Word or application and select the Rupee font.
  4. Use the tilde ( ~ or “Squiggly” ) button to insert the Rupee sign.

Please note that using this font in MS Word or Excel documents which will be accessed or shared with others is not recommended. It works only on computers with the font installed.

How to type the Rupee symbol ?

Rupee symbol has been mapped to the grave acent symbol – ` (the key just above “tab” button in your keyboard) with the new Rupee symbol. Just select “Rupee” font from the drop down list of your fonts in your application and press the key just above your tab button. It will display our new rupee symbol. Try it.

Limitations

The “Rupee.ttf” font is necessary to view the currency symbol. So as long as the new symbol is not encoded in to unicode font by default, we cant use the symbol universally.

Some people reported that they are facing a problem to select font from the drop down list of MS Office and similar applications. This is because they haven’t included glyphs for letters from A to Z.And the solution is to download the release version 2.0 of the Rupee font. This one contains all the glyphs(letters) and is based on BitstreamVera. Below is the version 2.0 download for Indian Rupee
